How pocket perfume works.

Three sizes, one blend, no guessing. Here is the whole system in about ninety seconds.

Try it small. Or go straight in.

Every scent comes in three sizes, so you never have to buy a full bottle of something you have not smelled yet.

Still deciding? Start with a 5ml vial and put the money towards the full size later.

The 20ml card that started it.

Insane Perfumes put pocket perfume on UK pharmacy and forecourt counters before most people had heard of it. It is the same eau de parfum we bottle at 100ml, in a flat card that slides into a pocket and survives being sat on.

Getting it right first time.

Buying fragrance online is mostly guesswork. It does not have to be.

1. Start from something you already wear

Every scent in our range names the designer fragrance that inspired it. Find one you already know you like and start there — you are picking a direction, not gambling.

2. Buy the 5ml first

Under four pounds to test a scent on your own skin, in your own weather, for a week. Skin chemistry changes fragrance more than most people expect, which is why a scent strip in a shop tells you almost nothing.

3. Carry the 20ml

Once you know it suits you, the flat pocket card is the one you will actually use. Top up after the gym, before you go out, on the way to work.

4. Keep the 100ml at home

When a scent has earned it, the full Intense bottle is the cheapest way to wear it — about twenty-nine pence per ml against roughly a pound for a designer bottle.

Sizing questions

Is the 5ml weaker than the 100ml?

No. Identical liquid, identical concentration. Smaller, not weaker.

How many sprays do I actually get?

Roughly 50 from a 5ml, up to 300 from a 20ml pocket card, and around 1,500 from a 100ml bottle. Two to four sprays is a normal wear.

Where should I spray it?

Pulse points — wrists, neck, behind the ears — and one spray on clothing, which holds scent far longer than skin. Do not rub your wrists together; it crushes the top notes.

How should I store it?

Cool, dark and dry. Heat and sunlight break fragrance down faster than anything else, so a bathroom windowsill is the worst place in the house.
